Handmade order Sterling Silver Bird Earrings

Our delicate sterling silver swallow was cast from a Victorian form, then attached to a wiggle wire for a lively bit of movement as it hangs from your lobe.

The Victorian swallow in flight is one of the most popular bird forms from the archives of 19th century design. It has alrical meaning: the bird is thought to represent the soul and flight is an act which bring one closer to the heavens and a higher power.

The bird in flight also represents the ability and freedom of the imagination to escape the body's earthly ties, to rise above the mundane and seek a greater view. Some cultures see the bird as a messenger between the mortal and spiritual worlds, a representative of higher consciousness.

The detail is fantastic, each feather carefully edged and even his watchful little eye is finely molded.

The bird is approx. 14 mm long and has a 12 mm or approximately 1/2" wingspan with the wiggle wire giving it an approx 28 mm or about 1 1/4" drop.
