The Nylon increases the strength and durability of the yarn but the high merino content means it's still super soft, perfect socks. MAKING AND WASHING
All yarn has been washed and dried before shipping. This yarn is superwash and I personally put all my hand knit products in the washing machine. Items knit at a tighter gauge go in my standard everyday wash (20 or 30 degrees) along with everything order else. Items knit with a looser gauge are still washed in the washing machine but on a Cool Wool cycle...just to be on the safe side.
WHAT IS SUPERWASH?
Superwash is a treatment applied to wool fibres that makes them more resistant to shrinking and changes the dye absorbability. My superwash wool biodegrades very quickly in composting and marine environments, the good thing about the resin used on these wools is that it is a fairly weak structure.
Firstly, the wool is treated in chlorine to dull the edges of the scales of the wool, this reduces felting.
Secondly, a resin is applied and creates a microscopic web-like structure permanently bonded to the wool, this also prevents felting whilst maintaining the
