This beautiful holy water stoop, font, dipper, is well made in good sturdy condition. It is made from green alabaster or marble. It has a brass cross in a fancy scrolled design. The back plate is made from solid brass which makes it all a quality, substantial and heavy piece. The font is also brass and is decorated to match the cross. The back plate is solid brass and has a ring to hang it up and 2 screw heads showing. This is a nice piece even if you are not religious as it is a very decorative thing with a lovely design.
It measures 19cms (7 1/2") tall x 11cms (4 1/4"") wide approximately.
As with all my items it is in the lovely timeworn condition you would expect from an item of this age. The alabaster has a few tiny nibbles to the edges. It also has some dull patches to the alabaster, but I think this would clean up a bit more, or possibly needs waxing over. The brass back is tarnished and a little scratched. I'm making it sound awful, it's not, but I must list all its little imperfections! Please study the photos. As it's brass is would clean up to a bright brass finish if that's the look you want. order
